How soft is soft, is it watery? Could be soft from grass. Watery brown scour with the odd lump with blood could be cocidoisis. Had a case recently in a 3 month old. Tail was in the air and he was forcing the whole time.

Had a similar case a month ago. Got vet after a few days of self treatment. Vet said he picked up something from maybe birds. Not sure what exactly it was as I was not at home and the auld lad wouldnt be great at relaying technical details. Maybe someone else might be able to give more detail. Calf is fine after anyway

We're you giving him sulphadimidine powder? Time for vet me thinks.

Give him a shot of norodine every day for three days and half a sachet of sulpha powder every day for two days. Works for me.

Be careful doing that. Both medications contain sulphadimidine. An accidental over-dosage will clog up the kidneys........... but it'll sort the scour problem in a final kinda way. :)

There is only a small amount of sulphadimidine in Norodine, the co-agent, the trimethoprim, isn't useful in the case of coccidia. It wouldn't be a drug I'd recommend as you are under-dosing at the recommended injection rate.

No, same stuff, different name. (Referring to use for coccidiosis)

As all these products are POM you'll need to talk to a vet. They should be able to give guidance as to possible cause and what they find works best as it may well vary from part of the country to another. Something I found when I moved around.

The sulpha in Norodine is probably of more value to increase the effectiveness of the trimethroprim through a synergistic effect (2+2=5). It would work the other way too but most indications of Norodine tend to be more susceptible to trimethroprim. As such as greysides says I wouldn't use it just to provide sulphonamide.
