    my friends father passed away. she has never met him (him and his family never bothered to contact her) has she any rights to do with his will and stuff and what happens if there was no will.

    If there is no will a persons estate is divided up 2/3 spouse 1/3 to
    Children. If there is no spouse the children are entitled to the whole estate between them.

    If there is a will leaving her nothing she could potentially make a s117 application and would need to see a solicitor.

    I understand If a grant has been taken out she can get a copy for a fee with the will attached if there is one. Contact the probate office
