    Hi
So I got all my components today and it looks like I have an old version of the bios that does not support haswell refresh.
    Similar to here
    http://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/27ecdz/haswell_refresh_cpu_doesnt_work_with_h87/

I'm going to need another 1150 cpu to update the bios. Any one want to lend me one for 10 minutes to do this?
Sick as a parrot now. Going to look on ebay to see if I can find a cheap 1150 processor:mad:

Ok so bit the bullet and ordered a h97 gigabyte board from elara, can't seem to find anyone with a haswell to update my asus itx board which im going to rma back and get a refund on.

It might be a bit late for a responses but what CPU and ram did you order in the end, on your build page you had the i5-4440 selected but you have bought a different mobo. Did you change the CPU and RAM too ? I don't think the i5-4440 is a Haswell refresh cpu.

If you did indeed get a refresh CPU and confirmed 100% that the current bios does not supported the chip, it might be less hassle to get a bios chip with the latest bios flashed to it. They are push pin chips on the asus board and with a little gentle and controlled back and forth movement are easy enough to remove.

Dealing with hardwareversand for a RMA can be a PITA, getting a part refund for the cost of the bios chip may be easier.

Yeah changed my order around got most things from hardwareversand except mobo which was an eBay open box special
CPU I got is i5 4590 so won't work without the bios update.

I wonder if some one could flash a bios chip for me. I have an Asus 775 mobo I don't use would it be possible to swap BIOSes and flash it that way

Most likely not possible, hot swap flashing usually requires the same mobo type. I've a programmer that may work but I'm a bit far away from you, I've no spare bios chips i could post. To be honest the handiest/cheapest solution may be to buy the bios chip linked above after contacting the ebay seller and looking for a part refund....but you take the risk of assuming the board worked to begin with. Who was the seller on ebay ?

Cheers it was VIP computers it was 60 euros because it didn't have the backplate I wasn't bothered about the backplate anyway. They have agreed to take it back though and refund me. Just need to post it off now. Have ordered the gigabyte h97 from elara its over twice the price but at least I'll be up and running been a bit of a disaster so far. CPU didn't come with cooler but got that sorted. It was my fault should of realised tray meant no cooler.

Anyway thanks for the offer just going to ship it back and hope the rest works out

RMA may be the best thing alright.......contact elara and ask if the board comes with the latest bios or one that supports your cpu, you don't want the same thing happening again .
