Explanation of Handicap Cuts/Gains

    Can anybody explain the system for cuts/gains on handicaps for each category?
    I understand .3 for each shot below CSS & .1 above CSS, but what are the buffer zones & what are the variations on such? Is it .3 for each handicap category?
    For example, I shot a 2 over CSS last weekend, but was delighted to see I didn't get .1 increase. What are the buffer zones either side of CSS?
