I don't think anyone eating "Hydro Whey Protein Powder" gets to look down on anyone's diet choices.

It's the highest quality source of protein there is

Platinum Hydrowhey is the fastest, purest, most advanced whey protein we've ever developed. It's a single-source protein composed entirely of hydrolyzed whey protein isolates. Isolates are the purest form of whey protein. So there's no excess fat, cholesterol, or lactose to slow down your progress.

Hydrolyzing breaks larger proteins down into smaller pieces that are able to get into your system rapidly, enabling your muscles to start rebuilding quickly. For added effectiveness, we've also enhanced this revolutionary formula with digestive enzymes and micronized branched chain amino acids (BCAAs).

That doesn't sound like a sales pitch at all.

Whey protein may cause abnormal heart rhythms, changes in cholesterol levels, headache, increased diabetes risk, increased fracture or osteoporosis risk, kidney dysfunction, liver damage, stomach or intestine symptoms (acid reflux, bloating, constipation, cramps, gas, increased bowel movements, movement problems, nausea, reduced appetite, swelling of limbs, and upset stomach), and thirst.

Whey protein may lower blood sugar levels. Caution is advised in people with diabetes or low blood sugar, and in those taking drugs, herbs, or supplements that affect blood sugar. Blood sugar levels may need to be monitored by a qualified healthcare professional, including a pharmacist, and medication adjustments may be necessary.

Whey protein may increase the risk of bleeding. Caution is advised in people with bleeding disorders or in those taking drugs that may increase the risk of bleeding. Dosing adjustments may be necessary.

Whey protein may interfere with the way the body processes certain drugs using the liver's "cytochrome P450" enzyme system.

Whey protein may cause low blood pressure. Caution is advised in people with low blood pressure or in those taking drugs or herbs and supplements that lower blood pressure.

For the pie or for the burgers? ;)

I've no particular recipe, really. I dice and fry the mushrooms until they're nicely browned, and steam the broccoli.
Make a very thick bechamel sauce, and season with salt, pepper, and my secret ingredient - ground dried porccini mushrooms (simply throw a handful in a blender and blend until you have a very fine powder). About one teaspoon of that, it's very powerful mushroom flavour.

Stir the mushrooms and broccoli into the sauce and turn to the pastry.
If I don't have a lot of time, I'll just use shop-bought puff pastry, but if I do have time, I make a butter and vegetarian suet pastry (1 part flour, 1 part butter, 1 part vegetarian suet, 1tsp baking powder, pinch of salt and some cold water to bring it together).

Roll out 2/3 for the pastry to line the pie form, fill it, roll out the last 1/3 as a lid, pinch it closely and brush with some egg wash.
Bake for around 30 minutes at 180 degrees.

But that'll be tomorrow's dinner now. Today was the Linda McCartney burgers in buns, and some homemade peanut butter cookies for dessert :)

First of all cutting the first two sentences from the article you copied and pasted that from completely undermines anything you're going to say.
Whey protein is likely safe for most adults when used in amounts recommended by the manufacturer.
Whey protein is possibly safe when taken by mouth as a single dose of up to 50 grams, or when 30 grams is taken by mouth daily for six months.

Ever read the 'possible' side effects of paracetamol? abusing anything will cause you damage. Most of those side effects would only occur at ludicrously high doses or to people with pre existing conditions, whey is a food source like any other and healthier than most.

I've noticed you have nearly 500 posts in the coffee forum, look up the side effects of that, you'll get a similar list of scary symptoms that occurred when rats were fed high doses in a lab test, but we both know anyone who doesn't abuse the substance won't be affected.

Coffee is real food. Same site on coffee:

Coffee has a long history of being blamed for many ills — from stunting your growth to claims that it causes heart disease and cancer. But recent research indicates that coffee may not be so bad after all. So which is it — good or bad? The best answer may be that for most people the health benefits outweigh the risks.

Recent studies have generally found no connection between coffee and an increased risk of cancer or heart disease. In fact, most studies find an association between coffee consumption and decreased overall mortality and possibly cardiovascular mortality, although this may not be true in younger people who drink large amounts of coffee.

I'm not going to argue with someone who thinks that whey isn't real food and who's only weapon is selectively quoting from the mayo clinics website, you didn't even try to deal with a single point I made.
