I lived there for 7 years, and go back all the time to see in-laws.

What are you qualified in? ...talentsearchpeople is the agency to look for. Also look at monster.es - the key terms would be "informatica" and "ingles"

A few companies have shared service centre's there, as well as a few software companies etc (true story, a friend of mine used to work for porn company near plaça catalunya - it was all back end stuff, but sort of surreal visiting his office when you knew what they were supporting).

In my time in Barcelona, i was made redundant twice - it happens. Big companies move their shared services out. Make sure you pay your Social security. If you are permanent they pay you out a fairly big sum depending on your years of service (spanish law)

Costs are OK there - shared apartments, you'll get a room for 3 or 400 including bills. The one thing I will say to you though...there is a huge expat party scene there, I kinda got caught up in it - you can end up drinking your wages away very easily. I pulled myself out of it, but it is there - i've known a lot of people leave barcelona addicted to god knows what or else raging alcos

the agencies/websites I gave you are your best bet then. HP have a huge tech services office in Sabadell (just outside the city, a train ride away) where a lot of foreigners work. COLT have a huge presence there as well.

I'll be honest, Spain is not the best place to be at the moment - there is high unemployment and the gouging the government is doing there is worse than it is in Ireland - they are hitting healthcare hard, and Barcelona is seeing more and more angry protests than I can remember.

The job hunt is pretty difficult as well - you need to be there as agencies and companies don't like phone/skype interviews. When I got my first job in Spain, the time between interview->sitting at my desk was 10 days - nowadays it can be double that as there are a lot of candidates for each position.

That said..it's a fun place to live - i used to be able to get from the office to the beach in 20 minutes in the summer, life is slower but you need to work hard

If you do go to Barcelona watch out for the pickpockets - It's a beautiful city bit it's infested by the thievin' bar stewards ! .

I agree with other posters - Definately not the best time to be looking for employment in Spain due to the high unemployment rates.
