    Hi Guys,

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop and I'm looking to upgrade what I can for it i.e. RAM, to SSD, Graphics etc ... Trying to make it as fast and powerful as I can with what I have

    This info may help.

    Dell Inc. Inspiron 530
    Chassis Serial Number: 5XZC93J
    Board: Dell Inc. 0RY007
    Serial Number: ..CN7360479C02E8.
    Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
    BIOS: Dell Inc. 1.0.5 09/14/2007

I was hoping for a new unit but due to low finances this is the best I can do at the minute

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Whats your budget? What are the specs? You can get them by downloading speccy and running it, or go Start>Run and type in dxdiag

Its a pretty old model now, had one for a while, they tend to have low level core2duo, which may make it uneconomical to upgrade. But some were specced out with E8400s which would still be a decent dual core now, and may be worth it, and eyeing up the upgrades with a view to moving them to a new build down the line (so that they arent redundant at that stage).

You will also likely need to change the power supply, i know i had to when sticking a graphics card in mine

It depends what you want to do with it really. According to the service tag, it has 4Gb of ram, an E4500, and a 2600XT.

CPU needs upgrading as does the video card assuming you want to play games, but there is only so far you can take it. You could get a Quad Core Q6600 for less than fifty euro, and add a video card like the GTX750 for a hundred euro. That would allow you to play the majority of new games at a respectable level, though you will encounter games where performance will be poor due to the processor (Crysis 3, Battlefield 4 Multiplayer are two that spring to mind). Some games are heavily CPU dependent, most are GPU dependent, and then the occasional title is both (Crysis 3 is particularly brutal)

At least that way the video card can be taken to a new build down the line, so it's not money wasted. Your ram is actually OK for now.

You could do it cheaper by upgrading to a dual core like the E8500 (about 20 euro 2nd hand) and getting something like an R7 250 (about 60 euro), but performance won't be as good obviously.
