    Evening all,

I've been trying to put shelves and the like in the back of my van. Unfortunately the ply lining on the floor is too light to hold screws, is there anything to stop me driving a few self tappers through into the steel floor of the van?? Same question for the walls

    Thanks

Nothing bar the obvious of checking for wires and other delicates before you drill, and making sure you hit a support not just the panel :D

No issue just use the tech screws / zippies / self tapping whatever you want to call them you can get 13mm ones which will probably work if you using 6mm ply or I'm sure you can get longer ones. Just when going the walls stick the screws in the piece of metal which have a hallow between them and the panels. As obviously of you drive them directly into the panel they will go through the wall. But it really is only common sense. As said watch for the wires going to lights etc.

How would I find wires?? Or the supports?? Do I have to strip the plylining?? Cos if the that's the case ill just glue more ply to the floor and screw into that

    Thanks for replying

Yeah you'd have to remove the current panels to fit heavier duty ones. If your just laying onto the current lining use plenty of adhesive along with some screws, it could get very noisy if you don't get it bonded well and you can't risk screws long enough to go through.
