    Hello everyone
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am going to Lanzarote from the 3rd to the 17th of August. I will be staying in San Marcial Apartments in Puerto del carmen which are self catering. I will be sharing the apartment with my boyfriend who will have his own money so i'm trying to figure out how much I will need. We dont drink or smoke so we have planned stuff to do on holidays to make de most of it.

    Sunday- Rent a bike
Monday- South tour with lunch and transport
    Tuesday- Aqualava water park
    Wednesday- ............
Thursday- swimming with seals at Rancho texas park with transport
Friday- Lanzarote hop on hop off tour bus
    Saturday- Waterpark
    Sunday- Teguise Market with transport

Monday- North tour with lunch and transport
    Tuesday-.............
    Wednesday-.........
    Thursday- Scuba diving with transport
Friday- Lobo Island sail with lunch
Saturday- La graciosa island sail with lunch with transport
    Sunday- home

So here is my plan for the two weeks. I have the money put aside to pay for all these. Lunch is included 4 days and transport is included 6 days. we will be doing a bit of shopping for things like cereal for breakfast and will be stocking up the freezer with Ice lollys. we will have breakfast out a few days and do not plan to eat out in expensive restaurants two much maybe 1 or two nights. Any idea how much I would need spending money I would need for 2 weeks?. All suggestions are welcome :-) Thanks

You won't need too much if you have your money set aside for those trips.

To be honest though, you'd be better off hiring a car for about 5 days and driving around yourselves, provided you're over 21 and have a full licence. If not, rather than doing the North Tour and the South Tour, just do the Grand Tour, which is a full day and cuts out any overlap between the North and South tours.

In terms of grocery shopping, there are two small supermarkets in the Matagorda Commercial Center. Both are reasonably well stocked although neither are especially cheap for day to day stuff like cereals. Both get fresh bread every day.

Restaurants: It's a lot cheaper to eat out there. Even the good restaurants are cheaper than most restaurants here and quality is decent enough pretty much everywhere. There are places to avoid, such as Lani's restaurants. There are a few of those along the strip and they seem to thrive on one-off diners who don't return as there's a steady churn of holiday makers who don't know any better. In Matagorda there are a couple of good restaurants. Sapporo, the Japanese restaurant in the Matagorda center is very good. Zest, the restaurant in the Costa Sal is superb too and open to non-guests. On the promenade between Matagorda and Los Pocillos there are a few decent bars and restaurants. Kinsale is behind what used to be a band-stand and is pretty good. El Molino a little further along is good and gets a lot of repeat business. You'll find though that a lot of the restaurants get to feel very "samey" with similar menus and prices.

It's a nice walk in the early evening to follow the promenade away from Matagorda and onwards to Puerto del Carmen or if you're not up for the walk, it's about €5 in a taxi each way. The Casino is a central spot along the main strip on PdC. The old town is based around the Harbour and there is a lot to choose from there.

My favourite restaurants in the main resort are Bodega, just down from Biosphera shopping center (the main place to shop in the resort) and Antica Trattoria de Verona

Apart from the more expensive restaurants, you shouldn't be paying much more than €15 for a main course and certainly only in the region of €10 for pizza or pasta meals. Chinese is cheap and they offer big portions. There are some chinese buffet restaurants too where you can fill up.

There's also loads of choice for breakfast if you like a dirty big fry up. Around €5 for brekkie in most places.

Hire of a small car for 5 days would be about €60. Use PlusCar or Cabrera Medina in the resort or Autoreisen in the Airport. AVOID Orlando and Gold Car. It's a much cheaper option than the coach tours and gives you a lot of freedom. Petrol is cheap, but in any event you'd be pushing it to even use half a tank!

Hope that's of some help. I'll be back before you go, so if there are things you specifically want to price up, let me know.

yeap .... hire a car..... much cheaper than doing the escorted tours.... we rented a nissan micra last year for E80 for the week and considering it would have cost us about E30 return to the airport to matagorda in a cab, it felt like the car only cost us E50....and petrol is very cheap, found it hard to use up the petrol before we left it back to the airport....
