    Hi,

I am just wondering when would a principal have a fair idea about hours for next year?
If the department haven't sanctioned hours by this stage, is it a bad sign? What are the chances that the school could get more hours in August?

He would almost certainly known by now. Unless he's made an appeal for curricular concessions and is waiting to hear back. Have you asked whether there are hours for you?

Yes, I have asked, the hours he is trying to get are for a teacher who is on job share. I would be covering the other half of the job share.

He still didn't know last week when I rang him, he is still in contact with the department about these hours.

I am getting worried now. As it is job sharing hours, is it possible that these hours could only get the go ahead later in the summer, August etc? Or is that wishful thinking?

job shares can be difficult as Dept is moving goalposts each summer so sounds honest

I got a job share in August (advertised in August too) back in 2006, so they can be issued that late. Well 8 years ago anyway!
