    As per the title:

I don't like people who push their religion in my face. I equally don't like militant atheists who assume anyone with any vaguely religious views are idiots.

However, my point in favour of "militant" athetists is:

They are a necessary evil to balance the regilious repression enforced by the Catholic Church in Ireland for decades and decades. They are the natural "swing" in the opposite direction.

Fianna Fáil did to our country just what any of the other main parties would have done if they were in the same situation in government .

Rabid homophobes have done a lot for the advancement of gay rights, the likes of the Westboro Baptist do a lot of good in that regard.

This is something I've noticed and call 'the westboro effect'. If someone is mildly/casual homophobic and they come across an extreme homophobe they tend to become more tolerant.

The Catholic Church is an awful organisation, and the country would be a better place if it had the decency to fuck right off and take its imaginary god with it. However... it's also responsible for some of my happiest childhood memories (Communion, Confirmation, etc).

I really really dislike greece as a football team, but after hearing that they shunned their bonuses in favour of that money going for the development of sport in their country, I am beginning to warm to them.
