Well the guy is basically locked inside all the time, so I'd assume they coerced him into getting involved in something else to free him from his computer. Ye got to keep the man sane, but whether this is the way to go about it is another story.

Trying to join the dots..... perhaps there is a market for "wikileaks" secure fashion clothing.

Do you want to make do with an Armani suit or an Armani S suit which incorporates encrypted mobile phone technology or an Armani S2 suit which has kelvar lining? Kelvar is 5x stronger than steel (in terms of bulletproof-ness) if that is an issue for you.

Obviously he is trying to turn the (particularly Anglo-Saxon) media spotlight on himself and the good job Ecuador has done to protect his life from those governments who are prepared to murder people who speak out against their dirty goings on....

I wouldn't want to have to resort to an Irish embassy for refuge - they charge €60 to put their rubber stamp on a photocopy of an Irish passport to confirm the copy is legit. My local notary will do the same thing for €5.

A bit strange alright for someone who does what he does, could never imagine Aaron Swartz (RIP) doing anything remotely similar.

That said, he's bound to be going a bit barmy living in an embassy for that long.

He'll have to watch the old wandering hand syndrome (if the Swedes are to be believed.)
Why you'd put yourself in the company of all those sexy models is beyond me, given the allegations.
Maybe he just wants to prove he can behave himself.

He probably hasn't got laid since going into the embassy.

Perhaps he's hoping one of the ladies will take a shine to him. At the very least, he'll be able to add some material to the bank.

I have heard that a number of high class escorts have been making weekly visits. Could be coincidence though.

I think this guy is an INSIDER who is releasing information. Like the site WIKILEAKS is an inside GOVT site releasing info to the public that they wouldnt otherwise admit to!

Elaborate plot to escape. Or, more likely, an extra-elaborate plot by the CIA to capture or kill him. It's about time the old poisoned wetsuit had another outing.

Julian Assange sex case: Warrant for Wikileaks founder upheld
A Swedish court has ruled that an arrest warrant against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange on charges of sexual assault will stay in place.

Mr Assange, who denies the allegations, has sought refuge in the Ecuadorean embassy in London for the past two years to avoid extradition.

If he is sent to Sweden, he says he fears charges in the US over the leaking of secret government documents.

A warrant for Mr Assange's arrest was issued at the end of 2010.

Two women in Sweden accuse him of sexual assault.
    Appeal

The court in Stockholm agreed with prosecutors who had argued that the warrant should be upheld.

"All in all, the district court makes the assessment that the reasons for the arrest warrant offset the infringement and adverse effects the measure entails for Julian Assange," Judge Lena Egelin said.

"He should therefore continue to be wanted for arrest in his absence," she adds.

Mr Assange's lawyers say they will appeal the decision taken by the district court.

The Ecuadorean government granted asylum to the Wikileaks founder after the UK Supreme Court refused to reopen his appeal against extradition.

Mr Assange fears that if he were extradited to Sweden, he would be extradited again to the United States, where he could face charges over the release of thousands of secret documents by Wikileaks.

Chelsea Manning, an American soldier formerly known as Bradley Manning, was sentenced to 35 years in prison in the US for passing documents to Wikileaks.

The leaks caused intense embarrassment of the US and other governments.
