    Hi,
I've had a look around for reviews and not seen anything.
I was thinking of upgrading to one of the €17.50 meals for a flight to the states in September but just wondering has anyone tried them?

They certainly look better than the standard fare!

Also I see that under the t&c that these are only available to book up to the 30th June 2014....anyone know what the plans are after this time?

I'll probably book but interested to know is it to be revamped from July onwards.
    Thanks
    JC

I've seen a few reviews of them and they were generally positive.

They are the same meals as served in business class so pretty darn good.
Portions will be much bigger than the economy tray.Price wise for a 3 course meal with wine ,€17.50 is good value imho.
I have pictures so will see if I can dig them out

That's the actual Business class dessert tray. Note the crystal glass and the pour from a bottle of wine.

The SkyDine meals are on a large tray with salad, main meal and choc mouse dessert as well as cup for tea/coffee. Pics are avail on the EI website. Or at least were about 2 months ago.

Yep, it isn't quite business class service, but not far off.

I've availed the last couple of flights & I think its certainly worth a try.

I liked that I got served way before the other rows.

I like that little Shamrock glass, that'd be disappearing into the cabin baggage :D

I just tried to book the meal online through Manage a Booking and couldn't and when I rang Aerlingus they told me that because there was another airline involved (DUB->ORD with EI and ORD ->LAX with UA) that they couldn't modify my e-ticket to add the Skydine. I'm a bit miffed at that. Was looking forward to a decent meal going over.
    Anyone ever heard of this?

Someone wants to spend their money with AL, and AL can't take it because of paperwork !!

When MOL gets the shares he needs, he'll have the guy in charge of catering marched out the door,, and a few more wasters with him...

Which will be never, as he's not going to win any appeal and Ryanair will be forced to reduce their shareholding.

Off topic, airline bashing and trolling. Warning issued.

To the OP. Did you book on ei.com? If you booked through elsewhere it could be that your ticket was issued by United, hence the EI system nor being able to alter it.

A question on their facebook page should get a reply quickly mid week.

Yeah I booked it on aerlingus.com.
Good idea regarding facebook.I'll try that and see how it goes

    Even if booked through aerlingus.com

'It is not possible to retrieve this booking using this facility. Please contact our helpdesk.'

This is normal if the booking includes any jetblue or united leg. You can certainly change the booking over the phone but extras don't work

A couple of years ago, I was booked on some flights with Air France/Delta (and remember they are meant to have a partnership). Despite the booking being made through Air France, I was not able to check in online or add an extra bag to the booking online. I checked at the airport and was told that because there was a Delta flight involved I wasn't able to check in online.

So it's not just Aer Lingus that have these issues.

    Hi there,

My mum got this option between EINN and Boston in April this year and was very unimpressed. The quality of food was not good for the money she paid (17.50) and she opted for no wine with the meal, but got no tea or juice to replace it. She had ordered one desert but it turned out not to be available. This may have been an isolated case but based on that she wouldn't be inclined to get this again.

After talking to another rep got this sorted! Although Laura has me wondering whether that was a good move or not :o

I certainly will be partaking of the wine and probably wouldn't have booked it unless I was going to have it.

Looking at it online you are essentially paying 12.50 for the meal and dessert and the wine costs E5. So your mum paid E5 for wine that she didn't take. The tray does come with a cup, and EI staff do go thru with tea/coffee once the entire cabin get their meal.
In terms of choice, I guess they have small print somewhere that says meal pic is not 100% representative of actual product. Or like other airlines they may change the choice each month.

JackieChan - try it out for sure! My mum may have just experienced an isolated case as I mentioned. In general, she has a high opinion of the airline compared to others doing the same routes.
