moving into area with no UPC coverage soon, and after searching a bit it looks like I'm limited to ADSL providers. is there any difference in quality of service between them? as price wise they all look similar to me.

ADSL is provided over eircom copper pair, so yes all the same essentially. Down to pricing, bundling and more importantly Customer Service!

Is VDSL coming to the area?

yeah, I think the nearest exchange is few hundred meters down the road so in this case it means VDSL

here are the options I found so far:

    Magnet (no contract)
    €46.99 * 18 + 57.99 (installation) = 903.81 for "up to" 100MB

    Vodafone (18 month contract)
    35 * 18 = 630 again "up to" 100MB, no installation

    Eircom
    30 * 6 + 45 * 12 = 720 for - according to their site - 70MB

one more question - does any of those companies provide a modem with 1GBps LAN? or is it all bog standard 100MBps?
I've like 5 enpoints and could really benefit from having 1GBps local connection.

All the fibre services come with gigabit routers.

Ooops, my mistake. Thats madness though. 10/100 will max out at 85ish, so you couldnt even use your full 100Mb if you're close to the cab.

F1000 definitely has 5xGigE and I'm reasonably confident that the unit magnet provide has the same, check on their thread to be sure.
