Handbrake snapped on 02 Nissan almera and I'm wondering what I would need to do to fix it if I can, I removed the center panel and it looks like the left wheel cable has abit of slack, after adjusting the but I have brake on the right wheel but none on the left, I took some pics to better explain

I havnt taken the wheel off yet so I'm wondering what can I do myself or do I need a mechanic?

As no one has replied with specific advice
I just add my two cents that is more general

the slack cable is broken cable.

The cable can be attached inside the rear drum or to a leaver out side that acts on the brake shoes. The former method is more common

you need to jack up car remove wheel and have a look to confirm the cable does go into drum.

If it does (I strongly suspect it does) youll have to remove the drum unclip the cable from back plate and removed the remains of inner cable from brake shoe arm.

It be a good opportunity to replace the rear brake shoes as you are in there but its not required if they are in good condition or have been replaced recently.

Refitting cable is reverse of removal.

Its not over complicated but it can be fiddly.

Word of warning some rear drums also have the rear bearing pressed in. If this is the case you'll need to remove a cap that will expose the axle nut. The axle nut would have to be removed to remove drum. Some cars the drum can be removed without taking axle nut off.

I dont know your car well enough to advise but it might be enough information to decide taking it to a mechanic or DIY
