With the Irish Derby looking to be a bit of a damp squib, it looks like the race of the day shall be the Northumberland Plate which has shaped up to look a very interesting handicap. Forum hero Pique Sous doesn't run, but Mullins does have another runner in the shape of Lucky Bridle. I don't believe that Willie has attempted to win this race before, so surely he must see something in Lucky Bridle to send it over. Another Irish runner in Dark Crusader goes for Tony Martin (who won this race a few years back). Its form looks a bit patchy, but then again, his runners often do. I wouldn't be discounting Lambe's runner either at a big price.

Two tracker horses at big prices in the Northumberland tomorrow; Agreement and Tropical beat, few small e/ws for me.

I see Roachdale House is out again tomorrow. I had gotten word for it before, it has disappointed majorly that time and has shown nothing since. Here's what Fahey had to say about his chances this week.
Roachdale House runs in the same race and we liked him a lot when he first arrived but he’s probably the most disappointing horse in the yard now. We’ve had him gelded and he ran a bit better last time but he needs to produce more in the . I hope he shows it in time but we don’t really know what to expect this weekend.
Doesn't sound at all hopeful of improvement. Currently 9/1, will be keeping an eye on it.

I was expecting odds on with Maarek but he's available at 9/4. Ground against him completely and, if he runs, he's only doing so because yard are desperate to get a run into him. By far the best horse in the race but absolutely NOT a bet. Despite being by far the best horse in the race, he is nowhere near the same horse on quick ground.

Will be cheering him all the way home though.

Trainer is mad to run him, but not happy with ground. Horse is in great form "jumping outta his skin". There is more chance of him not running at this stage but they won't make a decision until tomorrow. Imo even with the ground not in his favour i think he is a penalty kick

think Kool Company is overpriced for the Railway, obviously wasnt right at Ascot and can be forgiven that run.

Just a couple of small e/w bets at prices for me. If 1 of them places it covers it.

    Newcastle 14:05 - Outright Betting Grissom 16/1

    Newcastle 15:50 - Outright Betting Ardlui 25/1

Curragh 16:15 - Outright Betting Greek Canyon 16/1

Dark crusader has been aimed at the plate for a while i reckon, martin just jogging him out so far this year but looked a good horse last summer. Only 10-1 now, any decent value is long gone but i might throw a chunk ew all the same.

Us navy seal in the first at the curragh is another one i could have a go at, could be a nice price tomorrow morn.

One I really like tomorrow and have been him following a while now, Alben Star in the 4.15. Ran a cracker LTO finishing 4th in Wokingham at Royal Ascot last week. In off the same mark tomorrow. Already well supported in the market, 12s into 7s. And with some of the major firms paying first 5, it's an e/w NAP for me anyway.

Bet of the day tomorrow imo:

Chile to beat Brazil @ 5/1

    Chile +1 @ 6/4

They have a shocking record in Brazil (L20 and D6) but I've been very impressed with them so far and don't rate Brazil whatsoever, as good as Neymar's been. i think they'll have too much energy for the hosts and overrun them in midfield.

Did tropical beat ew myself. He owes me a few euro....

    On these personally:

Sheikhzayedroad - 14:55 Newmarket - 4/1 - Reckon he'll do well on this fast ground.

Cappella Sansevero - 16:50 Curragh - 5/4 - Did a brilliant job at Ascot, finished second, and unbeaten in Ireland.

Llanarmon Lad - 17:15 Newmarket - 3/1 - Should be suited at this distance and has placed in all his Class 2 races (three so far).

Photo Call - 19:15 Curragh - 4/1 - Pedigree and the way she came through for the maiden win says this should be hers.

That's my main picks, got them in singles and a few multiples also, but also got a few small punts on the following:

    Muthmir - 14:05 Newcastle - 3/1, Extortionist - 15:45 Curragh - 3/1, Highland Colori - 15:30 Newmarket - 8/1.

Just thought I'd share what I'm on, obviously you aren't obliged to follow, either way hope you all have a good day. :)

I'm with Chile this evening also.

11/2 for the win with Boyles yesterday was massive value. Also om 3/1 to qualify.

Edit. Just see a few firms go 6s. I might have another bet.

Stable lad was on the morning line and said he's set up for this race, trip should be no problem.

It's well regarded by the stable, or so I have heard. Is your friend in the know, or is it just a personal fancy of his?

He only texts me when he gets a text of someone. So I imagine somebody is ITK. But then again he text me before and the horse was brutal :pac: might throw €10 e/w on it

Dark Crusader looked very interesting to me in the run up to this, saw him on the morning line and he looked very well and ready to run.

Biggest bet of the week for me.

Lucky 15 for the day with a small acca.

    Chester 3:20 - Roachdale House 9/1
    Curragh 4:15 - Burn The Boats 14/1
    Curragh 4:50 - Kool Kompany 8/1
    Newmarket 5:45 - Starlight Serenade 6/1

Have a saver on Barkston Ash in the 4:15 at the Curragh and a small bet on B Fifty Two to cover my bets for today if all goes wrong.

Yet another pathetic high class horse race in Ireland.

Whether it be flat or jumps it's becoming an embarrassment.

Gatewood getting smashed in the betting for the next at Newmarket. Rain is hammering down. Personally I like Chancery in this race at a big price, especially with the rain around.

    Good to Soft now.

    Gatewood most likely now.

    4.15 Curragh

    Discussiontofollow 10/1

Although raised 3lb for being about 1L in 3rd on his last start (race has worked out well), I thought Discussiontofollow was not at home on Windsor's sharp track and I think he's got an outstanding chance to land this valuable sprint handicap today. Having shown good form for Geoff Harker on, Discussiontofollow joined Mike Murphy late last year and sauntered to victory in a Wolverhampton Maiden over 6f last November. Given a mark of 68, Discussiontofollow ran out a comfortable winner over that same C+D in December which saw him raised 8lb to a mark of 76. Discussiontofollow brought up his hat trick at Kempton in January with one of the most impressive performances you'll ever see over 6f as Shane Kelly didn't even need to breath on him to win by the cheekiest of necks. That day he beat Absolutely So into 2nd who is now rated 17lb higher and who was sent off a smashed favourite of the Wokingham at Royal Ascot and from that day I thought Discussiontofollow was a Pattern horse in the making. Raised 10lb for that victory, Discussiontofollow ran a fine race at Windsor when beaten a length into 3rd when I don't think he looked at ease at the track in a race that looks very strong with the 2nd, 4th (twice) and 5th all winning since which has seen Discussiontofollow raised 3lb to his current mark of 89. A first visitor oversees from the small Mike Murphy yard, his 4 year old has bagged a terrific draw in stall 21 and the quick ground likely frantic pace should suit this sprinter ideally. With only 6 starts to date, there undoubtedly looks a lot more to come and if getting a charmed run through the field I think he's going to take a lot of beating in this competitive and valuable prize.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,205 ✭✭✭Gringo180

Really like the look of Ardlui in the 3.50, won a good race off a mark of 95 last year and then ran well in this race off 98 (beaten around 6 lengths) and now running off 91. Could go close at a big price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13 JS_Johal

Sheikhzayedroad, picked it earlier, he's got a wicked turn of pace, drifted out to 11/2 too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 113 ✭✭Whatsgonewrong

Another winner for Fahey over at chester, be interesting to see how many he can get today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Giving Top Notch Tonto one last chance today at Newmarket at 15/2. The rain that has fallen should help.
