    Hi all,

I'm looking to build a retro machine for a classic bicycle show next year. Early days I know but if anyone out there has a relatively cheap steel frame from the 70s/80s in particular please let me know. I'd love an old Italian ( Rossin /De Rosa / Legnano etc.) but wont pay silly cash for it as i'm on a very strict budget from the missus :) i'm 5' 6'' so maybe a 51-53cm?

    Thanks in advance.

Excellent news. Can you throw up a pic of each? Where are you based and how much are you looking for for each?

Hi, Thanks for getting back to me. Can you verify that these are 1980s frames? I need a frame that is 1987 or older as the build will be for entry into next years ''L'eroica Brittania'' event in the U.K. and the cut-off is 1987 or older.

    Hi Hopster,

Thanks for the offer but I'll pass. Nice Frames. I will let the others (Zippe?) make offers if they so wish. GLWS.

Still looking. Frame must be pre 1987 as it will be built up for next year's l'eroica event. :-)

Interested in a 1986 Peugeot PX10? Featuring Shimano 600 groupset, a bit of surface rust here and there. Reynolds 531 Professional tubing.

Same as the one on the left here: http://mysite.verizon.net/imagelib/s...10SH,%20PGN10M

I might be interested if the OP is not. Link not working BTW.

Randomstuff, can you please post a picture of the Peugeot and asking price? You may PM me if you wish or start a new ad thread so as not to detract from the OP's thread here.

I have Claud Butler Reynolds 531 Frame and Forks. Think its a 50cm frame from early 80s. Not Italian I know but its a nice frame
Just away at the moment but if you're interested let me know and I'll organise pics.

Keep an eye on this site, a lot of sellers from Central Europe where the selection of vintage is better. Prices are good generally.

They were a nice bike back then but I honestly have my heart set on an Italian. But maybe post a pic if any others might be interested?

Checked them up online and they seem nice but limited funds at the moment to about half that price :-( hence I'm hunting for a frame that I can build up gradually over the year

    Hi Tony,

Sorry I have nothing to offer at the mo, but perhaps if you wander down to Laochra na Laoise some of the folk there might have some thoughts.

Powers garage in Dungarvan have also been bringing in some Italian racers of late, possibly in your full bike budget too.

    Best wishes,

    Brendan

Hi Brendan, didn't even know this was on until you mentioned it. I had a quick read of it on another thread here on boards and it looks like great fun. Will there be any sales stands? Hope to get to it. Cheers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 476 ✭✭Brendan Hennessy

    Hi Tony,

Sales stands would be great alright and certainly something I've thought about. In the States they often have swaps too - which is a most civilised way to do business!

Hope to meet you in Laois so and please post some pics or any thoughts on the Laochra thread to keep up the interest - tell your friends too!

    Brendan

Have an 84/85 Raleigh in team Panasobic colours, Reynolds 501 aerospace tubing, built up on Dura Ace, 54cm, high flange Mavic wheels 10 speed. Certainly not Italian but iconic never the less. Would prob be looking for 450 for it. If your interested sure PM me and I'll mail you a pic. Cheers Ger

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 462 ✭✭tonytiger81

Hi Ger, I think I know the Raleigh you are on about. A 54cm is far too big for a little scut like me though :)
Thanks for the offer though, it's for next years L'Eroica so I'm taking my time to find something.

No worries, best of luck and don't sell yourself short! I'm only 5'8" and must have the seatpost up a good 7 or 8 inches on my 54cm bikes. Cheers Ger
