The catch is you'll have to put up with the POS equipment that is the Horizon box.

If it's free I don't mind trying it out for 6 months.....what's the craic with BB and Horizon, does it all come through the one box or can I still use my Thompson router which I'm quite happy with

I'm not 100% sure on this now, but I think the only "catch" is that you actually have to sign an 18 month contract.

So, you get 6 months free, but your still under contract for another 12 months then.

I'm open to correction on this though.

The Ts&Cs in the email state " A minimum contract period of twelve months for UPC Horizon TV, Horizon Broadband and Horizon Home Phone applies"

From their general terms and conditions:

3.1 Unless otherwise stated in our Price List or other documentation that we provide to
you, the minimum period (the “Minimum Period”) of the Services is twelve (12) months
starting on the date we activate the Services.

So, it seems to be 12 to me.

It'll all come in one box, and the box' wifi range is brutal. You could get it split and use your Thompson router, but they will probably try to charge you a €40 "de-coupling" fee to do so.

I'd stick with what you have. Horizon has potential - but it seems they just released a bug-ridden, unfinished system and don't really seem to care much about fixing it.

Yeah I've got Sky for tv which I can't complain about.....UPC have been in touch a few times over the past couple months to get me to take their tv (sometimes quite pushy over the phone)
