    IRAQI rebels have taken control of the country’s largest refinery, according to local reports....

    The 310,000 bbl/d refinery is a key national asset, providing a quarter of the country’s refining capacity and supplying fuel and refined products to northern Iraq and Baghdad. If the rebels have seized control of the refinery and can restart operations it strips the government of a key source of fuel and adds a lucrative stream of income to the oil resources ISIS already controls in eastern Syria.
