I am looking to wire a trailer socket on a 07 citroen berlingo. I understand it has normal wiring (not canbus) etc so should not be too difficult to do .............. Any advice on what goes where ?

It's recommended to use bypass relays; while it isn't CAN bus, the rear lamps are still BSI controlled. However I opted not to fit relays on my Citroen and it hasn't imploded like the internet said it would. The circuits are all fused and fed from relays on the BSI, so I don't see how anything will be damaged. I've pulled trailers with conventional incandescent lamps and with LED lamps, both worked fine.

The quickest way I found is just use a test lamp to find what wire is feeding what bulb in the left cluster, and then scotch-lock into that wire further down the line where you can hide your work neatly. I went for above the wheel well behind the boot trim. The right indicator wire was also running along here. I appreciate scotch-locks are not the "correct" way to do it, but it works just fine. It's not the first one (or the second one!) I've done like this. I took a few shortcuts, I took the LH sidelight and used it to feed both LH and RH pins on the socket. I also didn't bother with the fog light, I've never pulled a trailer with one installed so what's the point. Took about 20 minutes including removal and refitting of lamps and trim.
