Another Airport Genie question - Fast track or Lounge ??

I’m travelling to the States with my daughter (6 yrs old) ina couple of weeks and was told that the Airport Genie service is great. As our flight is at noon we’ll probably have something to eat in the airport … given how expensive food is at the airport, would it be worth paying the extra few quid for the lounge genie and has anyone used this with children ??

Lounge food is crisps, crackers, biscuits and cheese, not really what I'd call a pre flight meal.

Ah I see ... I thought you might be able to get a sandwich or something small like that ... I'm not forking out €20 for a few crackers :-)

I suspect travelling with a 6 year old you will be paying €40. Airport genie is pretty good value for adults given you get fast track through security, newspapers for those that still read them and as much free drinks and snacks (think cheap crackers and cheese) as you want. For decent food the entire airport is a bit of a disaster zone. The free wifi bit is a cod given that the DAA provide free wifi to everyone in the airport.

The only real value with Genie is security fast track. Given your flight time you'll probably be going through security around 9. Security is usually quiet in any event at that time

Pay the €6 for the fast track security airport genie, you get value for that. Don't take the lounge option, it's more suited to adults travelling who want some peace and free booze before the flight. A six year old would be bored to tears in the lounge too, it tends to be quiet.

Thanks all for the replies ... I think I'll get the fast track genie - i'm always weary of airports in the summer months so it might save me a few minutes and I'll get my "free" cuppa. :-)

Sorry to bump this thread, but we were looking at the fast track genie option as we'll be travelling with 3yo twins to Tenerife in August with a flight time of 4pm & can see the whole airport scene as being stressful, however, we'll be checking in bags with Aer Lingus in T2 on the day & are wondering if the fastrack is worth getting with that in mind?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

I haven't used it myself but would think the Genie only really is of benefit before 830/9 in the morning when there are many more flights than when you're departing. I've never had much of a delay in getting through security in T2 (T1 yes, but not T2).

I've had big delays in T2 and unless it was late at night I'd always use airport genie

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago, flight is at 3pm and the advice given was not to bother and certainly looking at the departure schedule out of T2 at that time, there's not that many flights going out at that time.

If you like, I can let you know how I get on!

Genie fast track is the line for security.
You will already have dropped your bags before that so it makes no difference there.
It is not a fast track or queue jump for check in or bag drop desks.it is just a special lane for security with less people in it.

Have you considered their Family Care package. €50 for up to 6 people, and someone will come with you through the fast track security all the way to your gate, and help you carry any extra bags/shopping etc? If you've got your hands full with twins/carry on luggage etc it might be worth it.

We actually booked the standard genie fastrack, we'll be checking bags in & plan on having v.little hand luggage (a backpack,my wifes handbag & the 2 children in their buggies) so it was really the hassle of the security queues that we want to avoid. Once we get through that I reckon we'll cope, at that stage we'll have my in-laws to help out too:D

I'm not sure if you've been through security before with buggies but you have to fold them up to put them on the x-ray belt

Thats no bother really, the buggies we got had this scenario in mind, they fold up snugly & quite easily too.
Thanks for the heads up though.
