Heads up guys, Dublin Aerospace are looking for apprentice engineers. You need a C in ordinary maths or a D in higher. It's a 4 year course but only 75 weeks are in a classroom the remaining is out working on the aircraft. Might be useful for someone interested.

I'm not entirely sure, this is all the information they give.

Base maintenance so one would assume B.

Does anyone know what the requirements would be for mature apprenticeship application or if they would even take on

the willingness to work for near-nothing will help, as will the willingness to operate on a contract that biases everything in favour of the Company. have fun!

I'm sure they would be the same. I'm not entirely sure though you should look into it

Yes... Dublin aerospace are absolutely terrible employers. No question. But if you're looking for an apprenticeship and plan on working elsewhere, you would gain decent experience there. For anyone thinking of doing it, get the license and experience and move on to a decent company :)

Yes they will be just as likely to take on a mature apprentice. As far as I know if you have a college degree in any field, it covers the requirements. Dublin aerospace are looking for apprentices, not "job for life" employees. Your age won't matter to them. People don't stick around for long working there (generally)

Just completed the online aptitude tests and think they went really well.

I was looking back over a thread about wages at Dublin Aerospace from 3 years ago, it mentioned a rate of €16 p/h for fully licenced engineers. It seems to be an extremely low rate of pay to lads that have worked hard for years to get to where they are, not to mention the responsibilities they must bare. I earn almost as much per hour in my part time job.

I've been doing some research to see what sort of wages are on offer, and even the middle eastern carriers offer very low wages to engineers as they seem to get most of their engineers from the Indian subcontinent.

Basically just looking to find out if there's a decent living to be made out of aircraft engineering ?

The lads in Aer Lingus are on €18 per hour but add ons bump it to about €21 an hour. You'd pull €30k-€40k a year at maximum. You'd earn more as an electrician but it's about the love of airplanes
