Hi, Bought a used car 3 months ago from a SIMI registered car sales centre, it had no tax disc and the sales guy said he would do change of ownership and I would get it and log book in the post. I forgot about it (yes, I know, very bad) until a got a ticket (WHile parked in a council car park) for no tax disc. I have been chasing the car yard up for 3 weeks now and keep getting the story of the VLC being requested and being lost on the post and never received by the car yard - Ive called nearly every day for the past 10 working days and get the same stupid excuses. Without the car in my name, I cant pay tax, and risk getting done whenever I drive it. I've checked the relevant website, and there has been no ownership changes recorded in past 3 months. Whats my options to force these cowboys to do their job and get the ownership changed?

All the fines will go to the registered owner. You do risk getting it seized though

The fine I did get was a 60 Euro printed ticket while it was parked, but the rego was incorrectly recorded on it. But there was an option on the back for 'If you were not driving the car at the time' - so I assume if I get a speeding or other type of ticket, the registered owner would just fill that out with my details so I end up getting the fine?

maybe, but you have the ticket so he can't. I doubt you need worry at all about that one if the reg was wrong

there's a procedure I think to get the car put in your name if the cert gets "lost". Contact Shannon would be best I guess
