Failed the test on my shock absorbers (fixed ) but the second fail says : air filter assemply and reason for fail is insecure . What can I do to pass it tomorrow ? The guy at the centre said throw a cable tie around it and hope for the best ???

Are you missing the rubber seal that fits around the inner edge of the lid/box?

I assume you have all screws/clips

You must be missing something from the kit. Depending on what you need to fasten, you could use a jubilee clip rather than a cable tie. A jubilee clip is metal and can be tightened with a screw driver, it is probably a better solution than a cable tie and can be removed and reused.

did you look at the picture?

    Hi,

Yes did look at photo, it is not immediately obvious what part of air filter assembly is not secured properly, just trying to make a suggestion.

It looks like it has a jubilee clip, maybe it's loose?

My guess is that the filter is not secured to the chassis where the old filter box was located. It would be easy enough to make a bracket if this is the case.

From the pics It certainly looks to be only resting on the chassis leg and not secured.

Ya I think that's what it failed on , it's only resting on the chassis . Tester said throw a cable tie around it to secure for retest , but I'm worried if I do it could fail on not been secure enough ??

Your test is tomorrow, would you have time to source something more elaborate than a bag of cable ties. If not then what choice do you have at this stage, many airfilters/ducts aren't fixed rock solid and have some wriggle in them so I guess that once it's not rattling about it should be ok (your tester seems to think so).

Is that an exposed PCB at the top right of the engine bay?

Does look like it. And a wire that connects to the strut brace? Or is it just passing under it somewhere?

It's the layout of the fuses under the lid, it's a printed green sticker.

You can book it 3 months in advance, giving you in effect a 15mth disc on a 10yr old motor.
