You would need to find out what is causing the weak signal problem & get that sorted. Rescanning is never the answer, unless the box had managed to retune itself to a weaker transmitter.

what would cause that? the aerial? i dont have access to it , its on a communal apartment.
but i would image due to the height it gets a clear reception , never had any issues before.

this might sound odd but would it be worth getting a new HDMI cable? i read after googling that HDMI cable can affect signal?

I have done a rescan for 2 TVs in the past few days. 1 outdoor roof antenna and 1 indoor antenna
Seems since the good weather that the Saorview signal has been not as good in the past few days. RTE 1 is especially poor
seems channel 21 is the best from mullaganish for me anyway

ok maybe just a temporary thing?
ill leave it for a couple of days and try another rescan

I would think any effects due to high-pressure weather conditions would have passed by now.

HDMI cables seemingly can cause interference but you'd wonder why it would start now, after previously trouble-free operation. Maybe cables have been moved & the HDMI cable is closer to the aerial cable than before?

ok , have the morning off , gonna buy a HDMI and change it and rescan.
    will report any change

No need to buy a new HDMI cable to test, if you have a scart cable lying around. Disconnect the HDMI & use the scart instead, see if the problem is still there.

used one from the kids room , was a good one too.
also checked the aerial connections from Humax and from wall socket , all fine there.

did rescan and same problem, also restored hidden channels and another rescan, still no RTE on the 800's
    do have it on 51-53

i may have found the problem though.

on 101 (BBC HD) the signal strength is pretty steady at 50% but that seems low

however on 52 (RTE1) the signal strength fluctuates between 10% and 25%

both channels get signal quality of 100%

    any ideas?

Well, if it's a communal system, that's all you can physically check yourself. Might be worth trying a different flylead from the wall socket but, unless you make 1 up yourself from known good quality cable, it can be hard to know just what you're getting. Anyway, it's unlikely the lead would just suddenly deteriorate, unless subjected to rough treatment.

Best thing might be to ask others on the same system if their reception has gone the same way, & if it has, get onto the management/landlord/whoever. Having said that, the problem could still be localised to your own apartment, so don't take an all-clear from others as evidence of no problem with the system.

would it make a difference if i reset it and changed postcode?
or would the box be faulty?

I'd seriously doubt it's anything to do with the box.

ok , thanks for your help.

ill check around with the residents over the new few days and see if they have similar problems.

still get rte 1 and 2 on the 52/53 channels but they block out the football :)
