Would starlings have had a second clutch of chicks? They are in the roof fascia above my room but I thought they were always gone by the end of May at the latest in previous years. They are still squawking away up there now. Would they have had a second clutch of chicks I wonder?

It is possible, although starlings usually have just one clutch. However, they can have a second clutch if the first one was early and successful.

The pair under the tiles of my roof and many others in my estate are double brooded every year. The male of my pair is always the first back and repairs/adds to the nest just used

That's very good going, as only 60% double brood in any year.
