Before I have to shell out for a new one just want to make sure it's not something simple I can sort myself

Zanussi DA6141 i think, have it years, no issues until the weekend, turn it on now and not much happens, there is a noise alright but no water seems to be coming in to it, don't suppose it's anything simple?

Have you checked the filter inline?

Plenty of people out there can repair them - if you post where you are located I'm sure someone can suggest a good repair person.

Haven't checked anything as yet, is this filter on the water input?

It is, check that first anyway. Did the last cycle run ok?

Yep, no issues since purchase, I assume I have to take the back off the unit & it's located close to the water inlet?

Do they tend to clog when only clean water going through them?

No you dont, isolate the water supply and disconnect hose of machine, filter normally will be at this location on machine, pull it out with a pliers for cleaning if its dirty, there may be another filter at the other end of the fill hose too.

    What sort of noise?

If its just a humm id recon alright that valve is open but you just have no water so it could be filters blocked kinked hose

Yeah, it's just a humm, be surprised if the hose is kinked as the unit hasn't moved in years but you never know

As regards the cleaning of filters ( central & large) I would have assumed that they were on the outlet side of things so wouldn't impact on the machine not getting any water, right / wrong?

Sir Arthur mentioned a filter at the water input connection so I'll check that and hose kink first, may as well clean the filters while I'm at it, say a small prayer & hope for the best....by the way, the large filter has never been taken out & cleaned, is that important :o

Why would a filter be on the outlet? that just empties into a piece of waste pipe that runs into the drain from your sink. You will find one filter on each inlet pipe (if your machine takes in both hot and cold) where the supply originates. Usually under the sink. There should be a cut off tap or valve. Disconnect at this point and fish the mesh filter out of the flexible pipe. If this is dirty, clean it, and then you should check where the flexible pipe screws onto the back of the machine. Hopefully you can access these pipes/pipe from behind the cabinets, but you may have to pull out the machine. Those plastic 90 degree fittings on the flexible pipes can be brittle, so be gentle.

Update, think this is maybe unusual but it was a faulty T valve in the end. The T valve was feeding the dishwasher, even though it's been open for years, it decided to close so the machine was getting no water so a €6 fix for the fitting & a bit of tape
