Heading to Alvor for a few weeks in July.

    My wife, 2 kids (3 and 1)

We have a two bed apt for the two weeks, which (from google maps anyway) looks to be fairly centrally located.

Now I've been to the Algarve quite a few times, but have never been to alvor. I'm just wondering from anyone that's been there recently, will there be much for the kids to do? (Apart from zoomarine and the aqua park)

Does alvor have decent shopping facilities(large supermarkets etc) as we will be self catering.

Anyone any restaurants or bars they recommend?

    Thanks in advance.

Pingo dolce is the large supermarket, it's about 10 mins walk form the centre of town. There's AliSuper in town which caters more towards holiday makers and is more of a glorified Spar in terms of stock but it's perfect for picking up milk, bread and water. There's a market in town - the playground is hidden inside some old castle walls just off this square.

Thanks for that lsg. According to Google maps, I'm a five minute walk from both supermarkets, so that's pretty handy.

    Looking forward to it now.
