strange thread title but bear with me..... whilst in the shed today i notice my trials bike open face is on the floor, upended, i also notice the smell of ep90.....now you can see where this is going:mad: upon further inspection the helmet is soaked thru with about half a litre of ep90, its even dripping out of the helmet air vents ffs...... the lining is removable so after squeezing it out it can be washed, the helmet and vents are another story any ideas??

Doubt it'll do the polystyrene liner any good. I'd discard the helmet.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

Hi, I would spray your helmet with TFR (traffic film remover) which can be got from most motor factors.

This will remove the oil and the smell without ruining your helmet.

Pre-spray with the TFR first using a trigger bottle (dilute the TFR as per instructions) then leave it for 2-3 mins and hose it off.

    Hope this helps!

Doubt you will ever get that helmet right again, I wouldnt be happy with that smell in it no matter how much you try to clean it.

Personally if it was me I'd bin it. You've no way of knowing how the oil, additives will react with the helmet / plastics etc.

i think we have a great opportunity for a scientific test here, any volunteers to wear the helmet while we test if the oil does in fact reduce the compression ratio of the foam.. i will of course provide a very large hammer, sterilised of course as this is a medical test....

    Anyone....

EPS shouldn't react with a silicone based oil, not sure if I would want to take that risk though.

after thinking about it the trials bike helmet is the one i use the most on the quad and trials bike, as i've no way of knowing what the oil has done to the lining i've done the sensible thing and binned it. sickened but you cant put a price on safety. thanks for the replies lads
