Proof of independent living 2008

    I completed first year of a course in 2009, I left during second year. I now wish to resume second year of the course but SUSI are looking for proof of independent living from 2008. I don't have any. I was awarded the fees part of the grant in 2009 by the VEC but SUSI don't seem to have access to the records the VEC had.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    What documents are susi looking for?

    It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

    A15 Documentary evidence for an independent mature student

    You will be asked to provide evidence to support independent living

    The following documentation is acceptable:

    Utility bill in your own name, for example, landline telephone, fixed broadband, gas, electricity or cable/satellite television. Mobile telephone bills/ Credit card bills are not acceptable on their own
    As above in spouse name with marriage certificate
    Letter confirming receipt and period of rent/mortgage supplement
    Letter of registration with the PRTB
    Copy of lease agreement
    Correspondence from a Government department or agency- for example Revenue, Road Safety Authority, Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Department of Education and Skills etc
    If you are unable to provide this documentation, SUSI at their discretion may accept other forms of proof of independent residency

    Potential alternative documents to be accepted
    Bill may be accepted from before October prior to entering further or higher education. This is as long as independent residency is demonstrated until the end period in question, that is if you have independent proof from before October and after October we may be able to accept this at SUSI's discretion
    Mortgage statements from bank (not bank statements)
    TV License/ Invoicing from private bin companies (as long as accompanied with other documents)
    Copy of lease agreement
    Council Lease agreement (from start date to include demonstration of payments)

    I was just renting a room in a house in 2008 so I'm not on any bills, the letting agent did a runner with everyone's deposit so I can't get a copy of the lease agreement.
