    Hi Boardsie's

My mother has a Cisco EPC3925 router for phone and broad band with UPC.

Problem is she recently bought a BT Concero 1400 cordless phone (amazon link here) she needs some sort of splitter (sorry not my field of expertise).

The manual is advising her to get an ADSL splitter - but there's no port on the Cisco router that will fit an ADSL splitter - is there an alternative I could get?

    Thanks!
    Meg

Just get a UK to 'Irish' phone plug adapter. Most hardware stores have them. Ireland use standard RJ11 phone plugs like the USA, Canada and like those found on most VoIP ATAs

The UPC router is designed to work with Irish phones. You've a British one. Hence you need an adapter.

The Cisco EPC3925 is a U.S. unit with RJ11 telephone ports the BT phone is fitted with the oddball BT telephone connector, what you probably need is a BT to RJ11 adapter see here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Komodo%C2%AE-Socket-Telephone-Adapter-Converter/dp/B00BMNOO6A/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1403375836&sr=1-1&keywords=bt+to+rj11+adapter you should be able to pick one up in Argos or Maplin

You'll pick one up in almost *any* hardware or electronics store as Ireland uses RJ11 as standard for eircom sockets and has done since the late 70s.

Even some supermarkets have them. There's no need to order it online.

Nearly every device uses RJ11 for phone. Where RJ11 isn't the local standard, VoIP equipment usually comes with the local adaptor.

RJ11 basically became the de facto global standard for phone connection.

NB: BT phones will have an RJ11 (Irish phone socket) on the phone where the line connects into the base but, they're frequently wired in a nonstandard way! So swapping the line cord for an Irish one may or may not work.

If it doesn't work, you must use the original line cord and an adaptor!

BT just use very odd wiring.
