I'm starting this thread to try and get some information regarding unemployed construction workers getting work in England.
I've heard recently that the construction industry, in the south east of England is picking up, but the Irish safety pass is not valid in England.
Are there any guys out their who can give me some information on this, or do they know of anyone who has travelled over there and managed to secure themselves a CSCS card.
Out of work for a while now and I'm starting to crack up :) .
I lived and worked in England a while back and worked in construction, eighteen years, i.e all types of groundwork, steel fixing, even a bit of shuttering. There was a time when you could just travel where the work was and get a start, SIMPLE, it's all changed now.
I would be grateful for any suggestions on this matter, or even hear from anyone who maybe in the same boat and were thinking of traveling over.

Made the move over recently... brickie,Reading area.
Plenty of construction work going on.
On smaller builds cscs not always necessary but better to have it as it gives more options.
Have a look at cscs website for registration info.
If your into groundwork try contact companies directly, have a look at Gumtree.
You will also need a UK bank ac and national insurance number
Short term accom in Reading area hard comeby due to volume of workers.
If your willing there is plenty of work going on here so go for it before the winter. It can take a while to get set up so
Do your homework...bring money...use any contacts u have.
    Hope this helps....good luck!

The CSCS exam is just like the theoretical for the provisional licence. You can buy the book on Amazon.
I had to drive to Belfast to do the test some years ago. The hardest part was that the website required a UK post code to complete the form, this might be fixed now, or if you had a friends.
There is plenty of work in the South East and London
