Richy's is good in the early evening. The coffee shop in Meadows and Byrnes is nice for lunch during the day.

Reckon Deasys just outside clon is best local restaurant but you need to book and perhaps for an early time with kids. I go with a buggy sometimes but always at 6. Very simple food but I think o'donovans have a good few options for kids. Big fan of richys too but no idea what kid menu is like.

    Hi there,

If you haven't been yet, I would also second - or third - Richys. We've done it with out 7,5 and 3 year olds and the staff are friendly and food is great.

Ended up in newly re-opened Clonakilty Hotel about a month ago and thought it was good. Plenty of space for small ones to move about and quite relaxed. Food is nicer in Richys but pricier.

    Enjoy.

No doubt about it here...Richy's is your best bet. They've a great kids menu and the food is proper quality local food. For kids they do chicken 'lollipops' with 100% chicken (no nugget crap) and mini pizzas (all made fresh). They even have a basket of toys for kids to play with as well as plenty of high chairs.

We have 3 small kids (all under 5) and the staff there are more than welcoming them.

The food in the Courtyard is really good as well, though be careful not to go in when a match is on as it can get quite busy and noisy.

Deasy's food is top notch as well but be prepared to pay for it.

Also, try the bar food in the Inchydoney Hotel, it's really really good (especially the Atlantic Seafood Spagetti), plus the kids would love the beaches there.

The Fig and Olive (part of Meadows and Byrne) is really child friendly (toys and books) and the food is extremely fresh and local, atmosphere is informal.

    ENJOY!! :D

    Hey Everyone!

Thanks so much for all the replies, we are back now and had the most brilliant time in Clonakilty. We were staying in the Quality Hotel, which we adore, we were there last year too and had all our meals there but this time we just went b&b as we wanted to try the local restaurants for a change.

We ended up getting a gift voucher for the Inchydoney hotel so we had an evening meal there in the bar , really enjoyed it but thought everything was a bit pricey (glad we had voucher to compensate!)...but very good anyway.

Second night we had a take-away from the local indian Kobra...excellent.

Third night we discovered a thai restaurant,, Baan Sujittra(husband and I love thai) so we took a chance with the kids, worked out great, gorgeous food. Kept it simple for the kids though, noodles and chicken!

Fourth night was all set for Richys and were looking at online menu when we also found Mio's online menu and because our kids love spaghetti and meatballs we chose the latter! Didnt dissappoint, very good.
Richys will be first on our list next time, and would love try the other places too.
We love Clonakilty so we'll be coming back alot. Quality Hotel a gem for kids.
    Thanks again.

forgot about the thai, I like it too. Inchydoney is expensive, paying for location. If a fine day Dunmore is similar quality and price but better views. I like Mio's too but not a massive Italian fan so dont go there too often. Glad you had a great time.
Next time check out Richys and if your going at 6 or so and can get the earlybird Deasys is fantastic, also if yere starving after a long day at the beach and want a LOT of food of reasonable quality then go to the imperial hotel.
