Im gonna head that direction after lunch
I've often cycled past the gate and looked at the steep winding road up to the mast . Is that road safely doable on a road bike ?

I've only run it (during an event) I remember the surface being ok, might be a mental descent though.

Yeah, its fine, I've done it plenty of times. Can be a bit of a hairy descent so be careful.

    Fantastic view from the top.

It's fine going up, descending can be sketchy in places. Fantastic views from up there.

I did it Tuesday night. Have also done it a few times before.

Surface is not too bad. Take it handy descending as there gravel in places.

They have patched up most of the holes that used to be there. Not a fantastic job but its safer now.

It quite gradual at the beginning but save a gear or two for the last two corners or so as it ramps up.

    Enjoy!

I was up there on for the first time on Sunday. It's well worth the effort. Gravel in a few spots alright but it's a pretty good surface. Definitely save some gears for the last two corners......

I was going to cycle this once but there's a sign saying no cyclists, is that enforced?

Been up it several times on a road bike, often passed by workers driving up to the top and they never said anything

It's a great climb, very enjoyable on the bike! As everyone has said, take care on the way down. The part I'm always careful on is after the first downhill when you reach the flat-ish section. The road turns right (if coming down) and there's a bridge or something there too. Just watch the speed along that part as you might have built up a good bit by then!

Yes, there is a particularly nasty troll employed who jumps out of the trees and/or bushes at any cyclist who tries to cycle up this and steals their quick release skewers.

Well the first 100 metres were fine ;-)

Them last corners nearly killed me I think I would of walked faster but It was worth it, lovely up there

Was on the brakes all the way down didn't trust the gravely surface
