    Hi all,

I have just bought a second set of TP-Link homeplugs to connect my new Android TV Box.
The first pair connect the router to a Windows PC (perfectly)
I connected and paired the third on the Android box, but I think I need to configure the ethernet settings as there is no connection, although all lights are good on the homeplug.

Anyone any experience with setting these up for Android?
I'm new to Android OS :)

    Thanks.

I use Tp Link Powerpllus on the Neo x7

I forgot to pair them on the same socket so I had no connection...once I did that I had no issues.

Silly question really but does your box support Ethernet?

    Yeah it has Ethernet lol.
I'm only guessing here, but is the software disk that comes with the homeplugs vital?
And if so, how do I run it on a TV Box with no Rom drive :p

ive never used the install disk with any of my devices as said above try pairing them on the same socket and try again. are all your homeplugs compatible with each other?

did you try connecting to your router port directly??

Anything like this in your box settings:

    ethernet2.bmp

ping or trace route from terminal on android to gateway/router IP and/or external IP, your DNS server perhaps??

or use fing for network discovery and other wonderful fings :)

    I don't have one, give it a go :)

it'll just be IP and DNS stuff, but allow them to be given out by your router, DHCP.

Look here, similar thing, easy peasy:

Turns out it was Plug & Play, only I missed the Ethernet On/Off icon at the top of the screen :o
The "Turn On/Off Ethernet" icon is above the blue line in the pic that you posted, totally missed it.
I was too fixated on understanding the settings parameters below lol.

Oddly I'm getting a faster connection over Wi-Fi though!

    Thanks again.

Good, I didn't think I'd have to mention the check box ;)

As for faster via WiFi, mmmnnnnn, dunno.....

where does wifi get its connection?? and is there not overhead involved??

Also, you are using homeplug, they depend very much on your electric ring circuit bring good and noise free, and introduce their own overhead to deal with the type of circuit.

If you had say a cat 5 connection back to your router, you would see good results, depending on your router that is.

I'd reserve further comment, I don't know your setup.....

Good to get it s OK rted though.

    Cheers.

Thanks Pancake, I'll fiddle with the wiring over the weekend and see if it improves.

32Mbps over Wi-Fi is not too shabby (but not consistent, hence the homeplugs)
Direct in to router is only a couple of Mbps better!

I prob only really need about 8-10Mbps for a decent stream anyhoo.

Starting to think that it's probably the streams that are laggy.

    Have a great weekend ;)

Check out my Ookla Speedtest result. What's your speed?

    http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/866430133

I'm lucky to get 3Mb, but my streaming is fine, on Netflix, YT, telly apps, allcast, SB( shhhh).....etc.

Just don't try to do anything else!!!!!

Its copper, from an exchange about 5 miles away, ADSL, Voda.

Mine was worse before I got Fibre in October.
1.6Mb from the exchange, about 4 miles away was my max.
