    Hey Guys,

I am leaving Ireland to move to scotland for the forseeable future in August, i finish up my job mid July.

How do i go about claiming my tax back before leaving and can this only be claimed back for the year beginning Jan 1 or is it the last 12 months?

Generally how long does this take to process?

    Thanks,
    Matthew

You submit parts 2 and 3 of your P45 to Revenue with a completed form P50 soon as you can. State on the P50 how long you are leaving for. Depending on the staffing level of the office you send it to, you could be waiting a few weeks for it to be processed.

    Thanks,

so the p50 is to be used to this years earnings & tax paid, is there anyway to claim tax back from previous years because i will not be working in this country for the rest of the year along with the forseeable future.

i know the p21 balancing statement but would that allow me to get tax paid back for previous years?

I'm not sure why you'd think leaving the country would entitle you to tax back for previous years?

You may well be able to get some tax back for earlier years, if there's credits/deductions you haven't claimed or if you overpaid tax, but that would have nothing to do with you leaving the country.
