For those of you who may follow or have read up on the messages of Garbandal - the news has been published of the death of Joey Lomangino who died on the 18th of June. This was the man who lost his sight at a young age and met with Padre Pio and it seems was promised the return of his sight.

I was in Garabandal for 10 days last year. It was an amazing experience! I know there is this whole thing about Joey would get his eyesight when then miracle happens. When I first heard that Joey did it did surprise me. It hasn't however rocked my faith in the warnings and Miracle of Garabandal happening.

    A couple of things:

    1. Firstly, all of these "predictions" are not predictions in the traditional sense of the word. They are possible outcomes, if people don't stop sinning / don't look for mercy. It is quite plausible that enough penance was done to delay any "warning" or "chastisement" before the death of Joey occurred.
    2. Secondly, this apparition could have been a decoy, caused by the other fella!
    3. Third, none of this is was approved by the Church. It could all just have been a hoax (well meaning or otherwise).

I personally feel that no. 1 above is exactly what happened. After WW2, the importance of all matters spiritual nosedived around the world. A paradigm shift took place in what people valued, what people felt was important in life, and religion was dealt a massive blow. When people were faced with the threat of nuclear war, and the reality of the holocaust, going to Mass on a Sunday now seemed insignificant and futile. People became focused on the corporeal, how to survive in the here and now, and the afterlife was something to be dismissed as fairytale stuff.

But things then changed. During the 60's, fresh shoots sprang up. The kids who were left fatherless after the war were now in their 20's, young and full of energy and with no cultural, religious or moral template to follow. They had a clean slate. Spirituality once again became a "thing", and people started to experiment with different religions and philosophies, often times mixed with political views and ideals. Violence (which before was patriotic!) became uncool, medieval, archaic. Life was about being good to each other, multiculturalism, live-and-let-live. Exactly what Jesus wanted!

These spirits of the 60's are now the people who have matured, and are running the world. All the top politicians nowadays come from a background like this, as opposed to a military career. The messages at Garabandal have more-or-less been heeded, inadvertently, by the world. Accidentally living the way God wanted us to, is still living the way God wanted us to! I believe that nowadays, people who are into religion, take it seriously, and are in it because they love God, not because they were born into a certain faith. And even atheists live according to "love thy neighbour" for the most part! Laws nowadays prevent them from doing otherwise!

So basically, we have - just about - averted any "predictions" about any spooky supernatural happenings for now. But this is all flexible. Even Jesus himself said that "Only the Father knows the time and the hour".

I would be inclined to favour no two

Ya know you all remind me of the apostles, all waiting for something spectacular to happen when in fact it is anything but. Has anyone ever thought that Joey regaining his sight could have meant when he actually died he regained his sight in heaven/spiritual sight? or just prior to dying he saw the miracle without making any gasping sounds and humbly just passing away without telling anyone?

Another thing to ponder also is that Our Lord did say to Conchita that something would happen soon before the Miracle happened that something would occur in which would cause many not to believe in the message anymore.

I'm just asking you all to have faith and think. God is great at making a fool out of humanity to the point where it gets so bad that he then arrives on his white horse and goes GOTCHA AND I AM LORD AND I AM THE BEST. just like he did with pharoah when he hardened is heart to a certain point, let it get so bad and then swalllowed the eygptians up in the sea?

come on. Lets have some faith.

I am not waiting for anything to happen.as in my opinion the whole story is lies and deception from Satan.why do I lean that way I do . for a start the good god I love and serve does not warn his people with nonsense like this. For me and my opinion its all lies and deception from Satan's pit,. Do you not think its a cop out to try and tell me and other posters it can still be true and joey may have got his sight before he died .for me and I nail my flag to the mast. The are false prophets and have been found out . that why I was so short in my post and stated that is the end of that. So for me end of story.it states in scripture ,the only sign I will give you is Jonah in the belly of the whale.looking forward to Jesus death and reserection .like you I look forward to his coming, and he will warn his people with modern prophecy but it will make sense not children running down hills backwards falling over and the like

You don't believe God comes to warn us through modern prophets? You don't believe in Fatima? it is approved but it is also a warning. However if you are protestant then I totally understand your ignorance.

If you're a Catholic however, I will leave it at that. met so many Catholics like yourself. intellectual sort whose study of theology has inflated their egos and have as a result become prey to the devil himself and I can't be bothered teaching pigs how to sing, it only wastes my time and it irritates the pig.

Joey receiving his eyesight was never part of the original message - afaik - and it's authenticity doesn't depend on him in any sense.

It's been a few years since I've read the Garabandal warnings but from what I remember of it, it is very much in line with current, old and ancient Catholic prophesy. The Third Secret of Fatima is very, very similar to the message of Akita and these refer to the persecution the Church will endure. Even the Medugorje seers claim that Our Lady tells them that this is the last time she will be appearing on Earth before her Son comes again and she warns and urges people to return to Him through prayer, repentance and conversion.
