Hi my car failed the NCT and my mechanic has fixed all the bits except the exhaust, which I was going to get done in an exhaust fitters (on mechanic's advice) my problem is I haven't the money to get the exhaust done before my 28 days is up, and I have a date for my retest (on the 28th day). If I put the car through the retest and it fails again because of the exhaust not being fixed will that mean another retest before another 28 days? Or will it be another full test with having to get a brand new appointment etc? TIA

Nope, you have 28 days from first fail to pass, if you go beyond this you have to do a full retest.

If it is a hole in the exhaust could you get it welded instead of a new one (€50 instead ≈€180)? Maybe even some epoxy (≈€15 depending on the hole? (Can epoxy withstand the heat?) if it's not a hole please ignore this post.
