About time! Why was the cinema plan rejected 2 years ago? It made no sense.

Yes, good news on both scores. The cinema in Navan is pretty poor and needs to up its game. It's like something out of the '80s.

Those two additions to the retail park should bring other shops and employment there also.

They should turn the old cinema into a theatre.

They should bulldoze it to the ground. We have the solstice already.

One of the last ****hole cinemas left in the country. Glad to hear the new one is going ahead.

And great news on Tk Maxx too.

About time businesses were brought to that retail park, it seemed a white elephant for along time

The cinema application has been sent to An Bord Pleanála after receving appeals from Diamond Cinema, Showtime (Ashbourne) http://www.meathchronicle.ie/news/roundup/articles/2014/07/15/4031491-navan-cinema-plans-appealed/

Rotten and shameful, only words to describe that carry on.

I hope that appeal is treated the way it should be - with contempt - and that the new cinema goes ahead. Diamond Cinemas should have taken care of their own cinema by upgrading it or building a new one themselves rather than just trying to block anyone else wishing to bring a better cinema to Navan.

Diamond is a dump, had to walk out of the place the last time I was in it with little scumbags running amuck in there. I complained and nothing done could not care less.....and if you do anything to them you are the worst in the world.

So glad that both new outlets are coming soon.....but TX MAXX is nothing to write home about TBH.

Amenities are poor enough in Navan from what i see.. and everywhere is paid parking, with no idea where the money goes, im sure having a cinema outside the town with ample free parking can only be a positive..

Thought so but should be overturned, I'd imagine the refusal only borders on legality.

TBH I wouldn't mind, don't go for fast food very often but it would be great to cut out the hassle.

Supermacs in Navan does home delivery we need Burger King or KFC so I do not have to drive to Drogheda or Blanch to get some

Diamond Cinema is a total dump. I'd rather travel down to Blanchardstown than watching a movie in the old cinema, stinky mouldy reminder of the 70s.

Navan ,one of the few towns where the shopping centre and ring road are in the Middle of the town!

The last film I went to in navan was terrible......watchmen stopped 4 times during the film due to something breaking .....no one in the cinema to complain to after the film

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,011 ✭✭✭Vego

The Diamond is a bit of a kip alright but to be fair I've never been there when they messed up the screening or anything. Also, a night at the movies isn't as expensive as at the major chain cinemas. Hopefully if the new one goes ahead it won't be a ripoff. Good news on TK Maxx if only coz it's one less empty unit there.
