Paddy Power Shares

    Hi Folks,

I bought shares in Paddy Power about 2 1/2 years ago at €27 euros and am wondering if they have bottomed out in price. They hit a high of over €70 euro last year, but since then have fallen in value to €48. Should I hold on in the hope they will get back up past the €60 mark or cash in now before they go any lower. I always though the bookies where a recession proof industry which is why I thought it was a good investment at the time.

    Thanks.

I would hold them until their next profit announcement, I would think given the big suprise results of the World Cup that they will have big gains on it.

You should be racking up nice dividends since you bought them too, so consider that.

    nice profits there
I paid 61.59 and they are my worst performing share
if you will you will have to pay a lot in cgt unless you have something to offset this against
plus like allured to above if pp pay 3 % dividend this will be about 6% to you
I think that was one of warren buffets greates purchases the share price rose and he was getting a big dividend

Well the world cup results and the big racing results have lost the bookies tens of millions in the last month so profit will be down this year.

With the world cup results so far I would have thought the bookies are making an absolute killing

More to the big picture than sporting results. They have their homework and are uniquely poised to grab market share every time a country liberalises its legislation wrt gambling and online in particular. I would hold. I know people working there and they aren’t selling
