hi, i have a pz mower 165 where i believe the cog or the shaft is broken on the outside drum of the mower. Would any one have any idea how much it would cost to get this repaired and is it worth doing? Apart from this the mower is perfect, front drum runs fine.

We had a pz 135 for years and it was the shaft going from inside drum to the outside drum that broke. We must have replaced it 3 times.

Yeah same here the last pz 165 we had broke the top shaft! Be careful with second hand ones as we got one that had a slight bend in it couldnt run the mower with vibrations! Ended up buying a new one cant remember the cost now though!!

1st thing to do is to try and figure put what's wrong/broken. If you have even some basic tools and a bit of time you should be able to do it.

Take off the carrying bar going back to the rear of the mower- you might need a block under the rear drum to take the tension off the spring. Leave the mower on the tractor as you might need to loft or lower the mowerNext open the 4 bolts that hold on the cover and take that off. Then open all the bolts that hold on the lid of the chassis and the shaft & gears are underneath.

You should be able to see what broken. You might even be able to fix yourself, or case worst take it to a local garage to fix from there on. You'll have saved yourself €100 in labour if nothing else.
