Advice needed for garden room - should I let neighbours know before proceeding

    Hi

Not sure if this is the right place to post

Essentially I live in a terraced house with a back garden. I share the backgarden boundary fence with 4 other houses.

I am looking to build a garden room and met with a garden designer this afternoon.

He recommended that in order for the garden room to be built, it's dimensions would be about 1-2 ft above the boundary fence and about 10ft long.

There are no legal implications - however I would be uncomfortable proceeding without letting my neighbours know. I wanted to get anyones thoughts on this - have you been in a similar situation.

I get on fine with the neighbours, but I wouldn't see them very often. We also have a management company who maintains our estate.

    My questions are:
-Should I inform the management company first, then neighbours.
or - Just let neighbours know rather than asking permission.

Thanks for your help. Mods please feel free to move if I am posting in the wronf forum

I would ignore the management company as the rear garden is yours, not theirs.
In regards to the neighbours, I would let them know you are doing it before starting, just out of curtesy.

Might be no harm discussing the possibility of building a proper block wall both sides instead of the fences. Everybody benefits then, no more nasty fence painting, you get more space as you can build the sun room that little bit wider and your neighbours can build in the future using the same wall.
