    Hi

Bit of a strange one this, I would like your opinion on whether to get a console or build a mini itx.

Currently I have a Lenovo i5 4th gen laptop with hd screen. Im playing Skyrim on this and really enjoy it. Using a xbox controller.
I play at 720p at medium and its fine.

My TV currently a self build htpc with mediaportal in a amd a6 chip 4gm of mem coolermaster 120 case a 3 HD's 2.5 tb of space. This is not used for gaming.

My Idea is get a decent spec machine for gaming and use stream's steam to play them on my laptop. Hope that makes sense. Steaming with steam renders the machine unuasable when using it so the htpc for this is out.

So I was thinking of building a mini itx machine and placing it behind the tv so someting small is ideal

Hi. Need a little help. I know nothing about hardware.

    1. What is your budget? €400ish but cheaper is better

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Software development mainly web side of things. gaming with steam.

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No will use linux mint or Windows

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Hard Drives

    5. Do you need a monitor? Nope

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Nope

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? yes but itx case

    8. How can you pay? Credit Card

    9. When are you purchasing? 2 weeks

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Nope.

My current thinking so far is
    Cooler master 110 case
    Nvidea Maxwell I think 750gtx
    Modular PSU
    Cpu????
    Motherboard????
Would like to keep it as quite as possible heard asrock have good fan control for this

I'd also use second hand parts

If you're doing this run yourself an extra length of cat6 for the reduced latency. Sounds like a great plan other than that though.

Ok so sample spec ignore the case as I will have to get it from amazon its the elite cooler master 100 I want but price would be similar.
If I could knock a couple of quid of the price it would be great

I don't think either the Mini 110 or Elite 100 can take any expansion cards at all.

You'd also have to use a flex atx/sfx psu and not a full size atx one and the only modular one I know of is this:
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-270-SV&campaign=pcm/skinflint-couk&campaign=pcm/skinflint-couk.

I'd say just get a slightly bigger itx case and an ssd if you can afford it and it'll still be a fairly compact build.

Also that's a socket 1150 cpu but a socket 1155 motherboard so you'll need to swap it for something like this http://www.hardwareversand.de/en/DDR3/127045/ASRock+H81M-ITX%2C+Sockel+1150%2C+ITX.article.

The elite 110 takes a standard atx PSU up too 180 mm and a GPU up to 210 mm.

Ah sorry, I was looking at these guys last night :
    http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mini-itx-mini-series/mini110/
    http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mini-itx/elite-100/

It looks like a good solid build so and if mint doesn't work out you can get a cheap windows licence here: http://www.reddit.com/r/softwareswap/.
