My water cylinder (200l) has an emersion and oil heat coil and an back boiler coil, what are my options for a solar panel circuit....?

I'm afraid your best option would be a new cylinder with three coils. The solar normally heats the bottom half of a tall narrow cylinder, and the other two coils heat the top half. This way, in winter, the solar panel can be a useful pre-heat.

Another possiblity might be to think about PVs using something like the Immersun. They are a lot cheaper than they used to be, and when you're not using the power, the surplus is exported to ESB for a feed in tariff of 9c.

The other option is a coil which goes in place of your immersion (assuming you have a 2.5" thread). A smaller thread immersion fits with this. This is less efficient than having a coil at the bottom of the cylinders, but would work OK with tubes and would save you changing what otherwise looks to be a perfectly good cylinder.

Changing the cylinder to a three coil would be my nicest option, depending on the hot water demand the Willis Solasyphon might suit if the cylinder is copper.
