So I got a new bike and cycled it- I feel very high up from the ground! What is supposed to be the correct height? When I sit on my saddle at rest, its just the tips of my feet that touch the ground.

I think your leg is supposed to be nearly straight when the pedal is down

Sit on the saddle. Pedal backwards. As the pedal reaches the bottom of the stroke, your leg should be slightly bent. If you can put your foot on the ground while sitting on the saddle (without leaning the bike) , your saddle is too low.

Search youtube..there are loads pf videos which will show you how to setup your saddle.

If you want to get a bit more technical - you could try the approach they show here ...

I would question the plumb bob here though. I have been told by more than one source that the rope line should be falling straight through the actually pedal spindle and not the very tip of the crank arm.

For example, when I have my legs horizontal and drop the plumb bob from my knee, it falls straight through the centre of my pedal spindle.
