Need to invest in a decent helmet that I can use for trails/enduro, I never done it before but reckon I'll need a decent tin.

Thinking of getting this, just wondering what else anyone else uses? Don't think I'll go full face as I'm not sure my bike will really handle DH stuff (Giant Talon 29er hardtail)

    Bluegrass Golden Eyes Helmet

Looking around online I should be able to pick it up for about €120-130. Is that good value for that sort of helmet?

Hmm, now also thinking of going for a full face helmet, maybe like the MET parachute

Although the nice thing about having an open face one is I can use for commutes as well...

I'm only a recent convert to mountain biking myself, but in my limited experience on the trails I have never seen anyone in a full-face lid. Maybe for enduro racing, but for any time you need to cycle uphill I would imagine you'd be overheating fairly quickly. I'm still wearing my Spiuk road helmet, although I'm keeping an eye out for a MTB lid similar to the Bluegrass one.

Also, maybe best to ask this question on some of the mountain bike club forums (Madmtb, Epic MTB etc) as you may get more responses.

Yeah, reckon I'll only get a FF if I end up doing a lot of enduro.. right now I wouldn't consider myself nearly good enough to enter one tho! So probably will stick with an open face one, I'll get more value from it.

Full Face for Downhill racing is the norm..

"All mountain/Enduro" helmets have more protection for the back of the head:
