I was listening to Shannon ATC yesterday on 124.700, Medevac 112 was heading to Athlone from UCHG Galway when the controller informed him that there was an Air Display taking place in Moate, did anyone hear about this, I could not find any info on the net, also occasionaly aircraft would call Shannon to say they were starting their display. Seems strange to have an Air Display and not advertise it.

it could have been a display for a public event such as a fair or open day (ie, not a full, dedicated air show) or a flying club air display, which would not usually be widely publicised. All air displays have to have IAA permission to proceed so you could always ask them.

A quick google revealed the annual Moate Family Fun day with hot air balloon, hence the display authorisation. There could just as easily been a flypast, helicopter rides, a parachute drop. All require authorisation.

    Sounds like fun!

Yes there was a family fun day being held in the park in Moate. There was one plane (don't ask me what type!!) doing a bit of a display around 4pm.

(no hot air balloon though :()

Maybe Dave Bruton out of Abbeyshrule in his aerobatic thing.

It couldn't be Gerry Humphreys anyway, he and Harry are currently having a flying adventure across the world to China in a Cessna Caravan. Now that's a trip and a half!

Both of the are dressed in over the top Captain's uniforms complete with hats. Look out for the video on youtube when they get there!

Careful on advising on peoples adventures. If mentioned people wish to advertise said adventure let them do it themselves.

It's no secret they are happily broadcasting their adventure across Facebook. Neither of them are averse to publicity. Great characters.
