    Hey guys,
Have a Dell Xps L702x,recently I started get the blue screen error(at random times first but eventually to the point where windows wouldn't load),did a diagnostics test from the Bios and it came back with an error code for the hard drive.

So I'm wondering can anyone recommend somewhere to a get a new HDD online or is as handy to go into a bricks and mortar shop ala Curry's and get one there?
The hard drive in the laptop is a seagate,750 GB,7200rpm.
A 500GB would do I think, probably gonna need a new version of windows too.

You can download Windows and use the Computer licence to activate it for free.

    750GB HDD Seagate Momentus £42.50

You could go for something like this - 1TB SSHD (HYBRID DRIVE)

There are smaller sizes for cheaper - Dabs.ie 500GB SSHD

    Can I?
Its windows 7 and it was already installed on the laptop when I got it so I have no installation disks, although there is a label on the back of the laptop with the product key.

Thanks, any of those hard drives would be fine.

Yes, find out which version of Windows 7 and then download the correct version from here - https://sites.google.com/site/linuxlablibrary/windows-iso

If you have, for example, a Windows 7 Home Premium Licence key, it will not work with Windows 7 Ultimate.

Also, make sure which version 64bit (x64) or 32bit (x86) you need.

You may know this already, but, just in case:

If you have a USB key, you may find it easier to install windows using that.
Download LinuxLive USB Creator (LiLi) from - HERE

    and follow this guide:
Creating a Linux Live USB key is then a five easy steps process:
    • step 1: choose a USB key or drive in the list
    • step 2: select an ISO file or a CD [In your Case the Windows ISO you just downloaded]
    • step 3: click the lightning button to start the creation

    Remember to Boot from USB.

Something else that will prepare your USB key using the .ISO file you select
