There was a thread about this in the nutrition forum. A friend of mine heard about Dr Mary Newport's research and tried her mother on the coconut oil and had great success.

The bones of it is that she put a tablespoon of coconut oil into her mother's porridge every morning and saw a massive improvement and reversal of the disease. The dehdrogenated coconut oil that she used is available in health food shops. I would recommend that you try it with anyone you know who has Alzheimers or who you're worried about, and please post about any success you see here.

If you want to know more about my friend's story, she wrote a book called Thoughts of Yesterday by Catherine Frayne about the whole thing. Google it. It's available to order online and also on kindle from amazon.

I have heard of this, I use it for stir fries and for curries , the issue needs further study but coconut oil won't harm in the meantime.
