01 Corsa broken headlamp / paint removal
So today my corsa decided to kiss a carpark pillar...

Feeling like an absolute idiot, and while she's nothing fancy [my learner car!] I hate to see her hurt [pic attached].

The headlamp on the passenger side is cracked/broken at the side - the bulb works perfectly and it's not causing any glare etc. however am guessing I'll have to get this replaced to avoid water getting in and it blowing out, or condensation problems at the very least. Found a replacement on micksgarage.com for €53 but no idea how much a mechanic would charge / if I'd be able to do it myself (unlikely) - any ideas?

I also have some sexy yellow paint stuck to the plastic of my bumper - any ideas how to remove this? A scrub isnt working - will white spirits do the job?

This is ignoring the scratch/dent with yellow paint beside the lamp.

I am never going to Aldi again

Don't be mad spending €53 on a brand new headlight, find a car breakers and I'm sure they are likely to have a second hand one thrown about - for half of that! They're pretty easy to put in, depends on your ability to use hand tools! A few bolts and screws - the bulbs and wires just twist into the headlight. If you don't want to do it yourself, I'm sure there's someone in your family who is handy with a vice grips and the likes.

With regards the yellow paint - as far as I know you can use thinners, but go easy on it, because I don't think it's that great for the paintwork - could be wrong on that. If you're going to use it, give the car a good wash after to get all the contaminants off.

I wouldn't put thinners on the car. Use rubbing compound and it should make a lot of the scratch disappear.

You'll need to get the headlight beam adjusted after you fit it too.

Doesn't look too bad, once you rub off the yellow paint it'll look a lot better.

    Thanks all!

Got the paint off with some diluted nail varnish remover and looks a thousand times better! :) Still have to sort the light though - can anyone reccommend a breakers where I'd pick up a new headlight? Am based in Dublin city centre...

Also theres a dint on the panel beside the light - would I need to get this repaired or could I get away with leaving it do you think? Don't want my car to turn into a rustbucket but the cosmetics are less important to me at the moment.
